Sam Kankanamge is an internationally established osteopath and integrative healthcare practitioner who has dedicated more than three decades to exploring one fundamental question: What does it truly mean to heal?
Raised in a rural village in Sri Lanka, his early years were shaped by a close relationship with nature, community, and the traditional wisdom woven into everyday village life. Although his professional journey later took him to London to study osteopathy and build an international clinical career, these early experiences remained a quiet influence throughout his work, inspiring a lifelong exploration of how ancient wisdom and modern science can enrich one another.
In 2005, after graduating from the prestigious British School of Osteopathy in London, Sam founded the Sen Wellness Clinic in London’s renowned Harley Street medical district. For more than two decades, the clinic has served families and an international clientele while also mentoring and supporting many practitioners in developing their clinical skills, confidence, and professional experience. His work with newborn babies, children, and adults particularly in neonatal and paediatric care provided a profound understanding of human development, revealing that healing begins long before symptoms appear and extends far beyond the treatment of physical disease.
This lifelong journey led to the creation of Sen Wellness Sanctuary in Sri Lanka a place where modern clinical understanding, neuroscience, ancient healing traditions, and the restorative intelligence of nature come together to create deeply personalised healing experiences.
While the sanctuary remains the heart of his work, Sam continues an international clinical practice, consulting regularly in London and Berlin while expanding collaborations across Europe. This ongoing international work enables him to integrate clinical experience, scientific research, and diverse cultural perspectives into an evolving approach to integrative healthcare.
Today, his work continues to evolve through collaboration with Isabel Dziobek and her research team at Humboldt University of Berlin, exploring the science of meditation, breathwork, chanting, and human connection. Alongside his clinical and research work, he supports community healthcare through the Sen Wellness Foundation, a registered UK charity delivering projects in the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, helping to improve access to integrative healthcare for underserved communities.
More than a clinician, researcher, or founder, Sam sees himself as a lifelong student of healing. His work is guided by a simple belief: healing is not something we are given it is something we remember.
