Yoga Retreat in Sri Lanka - Yoga Urlaub

What a truly special place! We only stayed for two nights at Sen Wellness Retreat, but the experience was so wonderful that we are already looking forward to returning for a longer, fully regenerative wellness stay.

What really makes this place exceptional is the people. Every member of staff was warm, caring and genuinely dedicated to making our stay something special. The therapists were outstanding. You could feel the knowledge, experience and dedication behind every treatment. Nothing felt rushed or routine, and the level of care and expertise was truly impressive.

The doctors were equally wonderful. Their genuine interest in your health and wellbeing was so reassuring, and you really feel that they are there because they want to help you feel your best.

And the chefs deserve a special mention! The food was absolutely beautiful, fresh, nourishing and full of flavour. Every meal was something to look forward to.

After just two days, I honestly feel amazing. It is incredible how much of a difference such a short stay can make when you are surrounded by people who are so passionate about what they do.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Sen Wellness Retreat. You have created something very special, and we can’t wait to return and experience everything you have to offer over a longer stay. We left feeling refreshed, cared for and incredibly grateful.

An Amazing Experience at Sen Wellness

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm smile and a friendly hello from Madu, the hotel manager. She went above and beyond to make sure all my needs were taken care of, and her kindness and attentiveness made me feel welcome throughout my stay.

The resort itself is an amazing place, with beautiful beachfront views and plenty of local wildlife to enjoy, including monkeys, lizards and other fascinating creatures. It is a wonderful setting to relax, unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Sri Lanka.

The Ayurvedic treatment exceeded my expectations. The doctors carefully assessed my individual needs and created a treatment plan, including medicines, tailored specifically to me. The care and attention I received throughout the process were excellent.

All the other members of staff were equally pleasant, always ready to help and greeting me with a smile each morning. The warmth and friendliness of the entire team really made a difference to my experience.

Sen Wellness is somewhere I would happily return to without a second thought. I am genuinely grateful for the care, hospitality and experience I received, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay combined with personalised Ayurvedic treatment.

I have to admit that even though I have been back home for a few days now, I am still processing everything I experienced during my time at Sen Wellness Sanctuary. I am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to spend more than two weeks in this special place, surrounded by such wonderful people.

And I don’t mean only the treatments – although you can genuinely feel that the therapists do their work with an open heart. I say this also as a massage therapist myself, with 12 years of experience. The care, presence and kindness I experienced here were truly exceptional. My warmest greetings to Mahil and Rasan.

The food was another highlight. A huge thank you to Chef Dharshana and the whole kitchen team – every meal was prepared with so much care and was absolutely delicious.

A very special thank you goes to Dr. Chamodi. What I appreciated most was that she doesn’t simply prescribe medicine or treatments. She encourages you to look deeper, to understand yourself better and to find the best within yourself. I am very grateful for her guidance and kindness throughout my stay. I also want to deeply thank Dr. Narmada and Dr. Thilini for their heartwarming care and beautiful presence.

A huge thank you also goes to Madhu. If you ever need help with anything, she is the person to turn to. Her efficient management, quick responses, and ultimate willingness to help in any area were incredible, and I knew I could rely on her completely.

The yoga was also such an important part of the experience, not simply as an exercise, but as something that became an integral part of the whole journey. A huge thank you to Jo and Stefanie. The treatments, the food, the beautiful surroundings, the conversations, the laughter, and, above all, the people I met made Sen much more than just a wellness retreat for me.

Looking back, I honestly feel that coming to Sen was one of the best things that could have happened to me at this point in my life. I arrived looking for rest and recovery, but I left with so much more – beautiful memories, new perspectives and connections with people that I will carry with me for a very long time.

Thank you to everyone at Sen Wellness Sanctuary for creating such a special place and for making me feel so welcome. This wasn’t just a retreat. It was an experience I will never forget.
Best Regards
Rasti

I had originally booked a 7day stay, as I was in desperate need of a reset and to emotionally regulate myself again. Life took me on another turn, and 2 weeks before my planned stay, another life emergency occurred. I couldn’t last until my planned arrival date, so I emailed with only a few days notice, asking if I could come a week earlier than planned but extend my stay to a total of 2 weeks.

They went over and above to accommodate me. I arrived exhausted, depleted and feeling lost and broken. From the time I arrived, everything and everyone - from the staff, doctors, yoga teachers, treatments, accomodation, to the overall ambience, felt like a warm hug. I was completely taken care of from morning to night.

A huge shoutout to Dr Chamodi and her team of talented doctors- Dr Namada and Dr Thilini for their exquisite tailored care and nurturing support.

The tailored treatments truly targeted my needs and I could see other people around me transform within a few days with their treatments too.

I will definitely be prioritising an annual visit and encourage my friends to come too.

Thank you to all the Team at Sen Wellness and the lovely Madhu who looks after you with love and care from the time you arrive until you leave, for building me back up again.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If I were to describe Sen Wellness in one sentence, I would say: "it is a place that has a SOUL." Go if you feel you need a reset for your body, mind or spirit. It’s not a typical vacation destination, it’s a place to slow down, reconnect and take care of yourself.

I travelled solo and met lovely, like-minded people. There was a really nice balance between having space for yourself and being able to connect and socialize, so I would definitely recommend it for solo travelers.

I left Sen feeling genuinely reset and very grateful for the experience. It’s a special place, made even more special by the people who take care of you while you’re there.

The entire team is just wonderful, literally all of them. There was so much kindness and genuine care in the way we were looked after. A big thank you to Madhu she keeps this place running like clockwork, and her team members, to Dr. Chamodika and her team of doctors and therapists, to Chef Dharashana and the kitchen staff, to our lovely yoga teachers Ityka and Joe, to Venerable Nimal for the "magical" ceremonies and generous wisdom, and last but not least to Dr. Sam for a deeply personal and meaningful healing session that I will carry with me.

One small tip: if you’re particular about your yoga mat, I’d recommend bringing your own or a travel mat to use on top of the ones provided.

I recently spent 3 days at Sen Wellness and it was the most restorative and calming experience. We had a good taste of Ayurvedic treatments and the twice daily yoga sessions were incredible. Every meal was also so thoughtful and made with care, but most of all tasted amazing (even to a meat lover like me)! Thank you to everyone at Sen Wellness who made it such a special experience. I hope to be back for longer the next time ☺️

My stay at Sen Wellness Sanctuary was a truly beautiful and special experience. The entire property is designed with so much love and attention to detail.

Location & Surroundings:
The location is absolutely beautiful and surrounded by nature. There is a stunning, almost completely deserted beach right next to the sanctuary. While the sea is not really suitable for swimming, the beach itself is incredibly beautiful and peaceful, perfect for long walks, watching the sunset or simply enjoying the feeling of having the place almost entirely to yourself. The nearby lagoon is another highlight and makes the surroundings feel very special and untouched.

Food & Nutrition:
The food was beautifully presented every day, incredibly varied, organic, and clearly prepared with a lot of love. I especially enjoyed having a fresh coconut every morning. The Ayurvedic doctor also gave interesting explanations about nutrition, although I personally would have loved to learn a little more about which foods and habits are specifically suited to my own dosha.

Room:
I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary upgrade and had a really beautiful room. The open-air shower, where you could see the sky above you, was such a special touch. The room service was excellent, with fresh towels, sheets and everything else always taken care of. Some areas of the property could benefit from small renovations, but overall I felt very comfortable.

Staff:
The entire staff was incredibly friendly, warm and helpful. We spontaneously had the idea of doing a photoshoot during our stay, and the team even helped us with the organisation. Their willingness to support us and make things possible was something I really appreciated.

Ayurveda:
The Ayurvedic programme was one of the highlights of my stay. We had four treatments every day, and they were both very professional and wonderfully varied. From different types of massages and herbal baths to steam baths, acupuncture and oil treatments on the forehead, every treatment felt special and was carried out with great care and attention.

Activities:
The daily activities were also incredibly diverse. There was yoga and meditation every day, temple visits, a cooking class, turtle watching, a visit from a monk, a lagoon boat trip, as well as beautiful ceremonies involving cacao and blue lotus. Everything was conducted in a very intentional, heartfelt and almost ceremonial way.

Community:
One of the things I loved most was the sense of community. Because everyone eats together and participates in activities together, it is very easy to connect with other guests. I met so many wonderful people during my stay and even made friendships that I hope will last beyond the retreat. This sense of community made the experience even more special.

Overall, Sen Wellness Sanctuary is a beautiful place to slow down, reconnect with yourself, explore Ayurveda and meet wonderful people. It is a place filled with love, intention and heart, surrounded by breathtaking nature, a peaceful beach and the beautiful lagoon. I would absolutely come back.

We had a wonderful stay at Sen Wellness Sanctuary and can wholeheartedly recommend it. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and cared for.

The entire staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and professional, from the waiters to the doctors, therapists and everyone else working at the sanctuary. Their kindness and genuine care made our stay truly special.

The treatments were excellent, the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, and we always felt in very good hands. We also enjoyed beautiful experiences with our group, including memorable excursions and activities that added a special touch to our stay.

Thank you to the whole team for an unforgettable experience. We would love to come back one day!

It truly is a wellness center! Mind, body and spirit restored. The space is peaceful and I felt earthed as soon as I took off my footwear at the entrance and walked in barefoot.

The consultation with the ayurvedic doctor was in-depth and I was amazed at the accuracy of the diagnosis. The treatment was personalised for my condition and not a mindless sequence of procedures. The therapists are sympathetic and have the expertise .

It was not all about ayurveda though! Yoga twice curated mindfully, community feeling with all the guests eating and sharing their journey at the dining table and common spaces, cacao ceremony, fire ceremony, the connection with one another and the eternal- all came together to make this a most memorable experience.

The staff has always been friendly, polite, accommodating and only too helpful to make our journey comfortable.

Added to all this were sightings of majestic monitor lizards, buff striped keelback, brahminy kits, friendly squirrels, the cheat crow who would regularly eat up the lamp wick and drink it's oil....to all my gratitude. The thunderous sea and the awe inspiring sunset from the rock pool, i will carry you forever in my heart.

This place is truly amazing. It has a very special and peaceful atmosphere, and the unique design of the resort creates a perfect harmony between nature, tranquility, and modern design. I had the opportunity to participate in a meditation and sound healing session with the monk, which was an unforgettable and deeply enriching experience. A truly special place that I would highly recommend.
